Does the College recognize teacher education programs taken online?
We consider distance education as a teaching-learning situation in which the majority of instruction is offered in a format other than a face-to-face environment.
We will recognize initial teacher education programs completed via distance education provided that the program included a practicum that meets the College’s current requirement of a minimum of 80 days (or where the applicant has completed one year of teaching experience subsequent to their teacher education program and while they were certified in the jurisdiction). The practicum can be virtual, face to face or a combination of the two.
To be eligible for certification, applicants must also meet the academic, language proficiency and professional suitability requirements for certification.
