The Temporary Certificate program ends on December 31, 2023, in accordance with provincial legislation. Applications for Temporary Certificates closed on August 15, 2023. Eligible teacher candidates who were interested in applying for a Temporary Certificate should instead apply for a Transitional Certificate when applications open on August 30, 2023.

Why is the College issuing temporary teaching certificates?

The temporary certificate will help the province address the reported COVID-19-related teacher shortage. The College endorsed the creation of a temporary certificate to enable faculty of education students to begin teaching earlier as a partial solution to the shortage.
