Can I enrol in Principal’s Qualifications Program Part 1 if I do not have a postsecondary degree?
If you do not hold an acceptable postsecondary degree, you can enrol in Principal’s Qualifications Program Part 1 if you meet one of the below criteria.
Technological Education Teachers
Teachers qualified in technological education (Schedule B) with at least five years of successful teaching experience verified by a Supervisory Officer may qualify, including:
- Those qualified in Grades 9–10 and 11–12, or
- Those qualified only in Grades 9–10 with verified teaching experience in Grades 11–12.
Required credentials include:
- Primary Education, Part 1 or Junior Education, Part 1.
- Two Specialists, or one Specialist plus an Honour Specialist, or Principal’s Development Course plus one Specialist or Honour Specialist.
Indigenous Language Teachers
Teachers with five or more years of successful experience teaching Indigenous languages may qualify, with combinations of verified teaching experience across divisions (Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior). Requirements include:
- Appropriate division based AQ (Primary, Junior, or Intermediate, Part 1) based on teaching experience plus attestation of two other divisions.
- Two Specialists, or Principal’s Development Course plus one Specialist.
Primary–Junior Teachers of Indigenous Ancestry
Teachers of Indigenous ancestry with five years of verified experience may qualify with:
- Intermediate Education, Part 1.
- Two Specialists, or Principal’s Development Course plus one Specialist.
