What happens if I don’t finish my teacher education program by the expiry date on my Transitional or Multi-Session Transitional Certificate?
If you hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration, you can request a one-time, six-month extension while you are completing your teacher education program. You must make your request prior to your certificate’s expiry date.
If you hold a Multi-Session Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration you can request a one-time, one-year extension while you are still completing your teacher education program. You must make your request prior to your certificate’s expiry date.
If you don’t finish your program or receive a one-time extension before your certificate’s expiry date, your certificate will expire and you will no longer be eligible to teach in Ontario’s publicly funded schools. To restore your eligibility, you will need to complete your teacher education program, reapply to the College and meet all requirements in place at the time you reapply.
