What is Ontario’s labour mobility legislation?
The Ontario Labour Mobility Act became law in December 2009.
Under the terms of the act, professionals and tradespeople certified in one Canadian province or territory will be considered to have met the requirements for certification in other Canadian provinces or territories without additional training, assessment, or experience requirements.
There are a few exceptions, including not meeting one or more of the below:
- proficiency in English or French
- professional suitability, which consists of:
- an application declaration
- a Canadian criminal record check
- a statement of professional standing.
