I have completed a Schedule D Part I course in one of the three AQs related to First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies, can I take Part 2 and Specialist courses from another AQ on this list?
Following the completion of a Schedule D Part 1 course listed below, candidates may, under exceptional circumstances, enroll in an Additional Qualification (AQ) Schedule D Part 2 from another course on this list.
- First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples: Understanding Traditional Teachings, Histories, Current Issues and Cultures
- First Nations, Métis and Inuit Students: Counselling and Support formerly: Supporting First Nations, Métis and Inuit Students: Guidance and Counselling
- First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies formerly known as Native Studies
As stipulated in O. Regulation 176/10 Section 26. (1):
The Registrar shall record on a candidate’s general certificate of qualification and registration an entry for a qualification in part 1 of a three-part specialist qualification in a subject listed in Schedule D, if the Registrar has satisfactory evidence that,
- the candidate has successfully completed an accredited program leading to part 1 of the specialist qualification, or an equivalent program;
In this instance, the provider can use their discretion for candidates’ registration in AQ courses.
Part 1 of a course in one stream can be used only once as an entry requirement for the candidate to choose Schedule D Part 2 and Specialist, in either the same or another stream.
