What happens after a motion has been filed?
Typically, the parties will appear before a motion panel via Zoom to make oral submissions about the motion. Each party will have a maximum of one hour to make submissions to the panel about the motion, unless they have the Committee’s prior permission to make longer submissions. The party making the motion (initiating party) will make submissions first. The responding party will make submissions objecting to the motion, and then the initiating party will have the opportunity to make submissions in response.
The member and College Counsel should discuss the motion with each other before the motion date, share whatever evidence they intend to submit to the panel in support of the motion, and share any other documents that they might rely on in support of the motion.
