How long will the hearing last?
Hearings are generally scheduled on Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Contested hearings are typically scheduled for the entire day. Uncontested hearings are typically scheduled for the morning (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon (1:00 to 4:00 p.m.).
There is usually a short break in the morning, a longer lunch break, and then a short break in the afternoon.
The hearing schedule is posted on the College’s website and can be found here.
Hearings will be held for as many days as needed to hear the parties’ evidence and submissions, subject to the panel’s ability to impose certain time restrictions. Since hearings scheduling depends on the availability of many participants (i.e., the parties, the panel, legal counsel, court reporter, staff), contested hearings are sometimes scheduled over the course of several months.
