What is a Motion?
A motion is a request from the parties (College Counsel or the member) for the panel to make a decision about an issue that affects the hearing and must be resolved before the hearing can continue.
Typical motions include:
- a motion to delay the hearing to another day (adjournment motion);
- a motion to receive documents held by non-parties (third-party records motion);
- a motion to close the hearing to the public; or
- a motion to exclude evidence from the hearing.
