What is the Ontario College of Teachers’ Tribunal?
The Ontario College of Teachers’ Tribunal is an impartial and independent tribunal that holds hearings about the conduct of its members. It consists of two Committees. The Discipline Committee makes decisions about whether a member of the College committed professional misconduct or is incompetent. The Fitness to Practise Committee makes decisions about whether a member is incapacitated. The Tribunal also decides applications from members who seek reinstatement after their certificate was revoked.
The Tribunal is separate from the investigations and prosecutions arms of the College. It is not involved in the complaints process or in the decision to refer matters to the Discipline Committee or Fitness to Practise Committee.
