When does the new program model take effect and what are the requirements?

The new teacher education program model is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2027.

It will be a three-semester (45 postsecondary credits or their equivalent), 12-month consecutive program. The new model maintains the minimum 80-day practicum and core content requirements.

Multi-session programs are not required to be completed within 12 months or run consecutively. However, they must include a minimum of 45 postsecondary credits and the 80-day minimum practicum.
