How is the scholarship awarded?

Applications are assessed on a candidate’s ability to demonstrate a high level of preparedness for teacher education through examples of community involvement, background and life experiences.

Background and experience relevant to the teaching profession might include:

• teaching of art, music or dance in community centers
• assisting in a classroom
• coaching sports
• teaching literacy, ESL or other second or third languages
• working as a museum instructor or guide
• working as a camp counsellor or with those having special needs
• volunteer service in a community setting
