Is Français Langue Second (FLS) equivalent to French as a Second Language (FSL)?
Yes. Français Langue Second (FLS) and French as a Second Language are equivalent qualifications. For example, FLS 1re partie can be used for entrance into FSL parts 2 and 3. FSL and FLS were always intended to serve the same purpose, which is to prepare members to teach French to English language learners, in English schools. FSL may only be offered by English-language providers while FLS was only offered by French-language providers. Please note that as of 2019, FLS can no longer be offered and only FSL is available.
