Following the passage of Bill 13, the College is required to make changes to its system to replace “Retired” and “Suspended for Non-Payment of Fees” statuses to “Inactive/Non-Practising.” As a result of these changes, the Notice of Retirement has been discontinued as of December 27, 2021.
If you have retired and do not intend to teach in Ontario’s publicly funded schools, your membership status will automatically change to Inactive/Non-Practising if your annual membership fee is not paid by the deadline of April 25. As such, you do not need to notify the College about your retirement.
However, if you intend to continue teaching in any capacity, you are required to maintain your membership in Good Standing and pay the annual fee.
